I have many recordings with Claudio Abbado conducting. He is associated with my first memories of classical music. He made his debut conducting (I learned this from the obit) conducting “Love for Three Oranges” by Sergei Prokofiev.
This opera was used as the background for a recording, on a record, telling the story of the Trojan War. This was in kindergarten. I cannot hear the march from this without seeing Greek soldiers marching on Troy.
