Doris Lessing has died

Doris Lessing, a remarkable author has died. Her books meant a great deal to me when I was in grad school. I love the Canopus in Argos series of novels.

One of my favorite quotes was when she received the Nobel Prize:

“I’m 88 years old and they can’t give the Nobel to someone who’s dead, so I think they were probably thinking they’d probably better give it to me now before I’ve popped off.”

That is what learning is. You suddenly understand something you’ve understood all your life, but in a new way.
Read what a set of four authors have to say about the Golden Notebook (considered a feminist bible when it came out… and still today, to some).
