My continuing obsession with Bags

Long have I obsessed over the perfect bag to take to work. Well… The Wirecutter, one of my favorite tech sites, has reviewed bags and if this kind of thing matters, scroll down and there are five women’s bags. Anyone with any insight into any of these? Please share thoughts.

There’s a padded slot for a laptop (won’t take the super big ones), room for other files/paper; pockets on each side for each glasses case (reg and sun); big outer pocket for wallet, phone, keys; etc. The only complaint is that with my hard use*, the shoulder straps have to be fixed on occasion, so I keep two–one active and one in reserve. Yes, that’s how much I love this bag.

*I carry two laptops, and travel for a living, so I pack a lot of weight in the bag.

  2. Should add–I have serious carpal tunnel syndrome and cannot carry a bag in my hand. seems like a backpack might be totally off what you’re looking for.

  3. The best bag I’ve ever had is my current one. It’s an Ogio Hip Hop Messenger and it’s pretty close to perfect as far as function goes. Has lots of well-designed compartments, the bag itself is very light (I’m a smallish person, so I try to minimize total weight) and all the zippers and straps still function as well as when I bought it three years ago. I think this is the longest I’ve ever managed to continuously use a bag–usually the straps give out.

It’s definitely on the sporty side, so I’m on the lookout for a more professional bag for days when I need to look more pulled together. Luckily for me, this will work in my discipline which tends to be much more dressed down. And I do like the way it looks–mine is brown plaid (again, great: doesn’t show stains or marks from being set on the floor like a light or dark bag does).

Sadly, since I was searching for a link I realized Ogio isn’t making this style any more, although they can still be had online. I think I’ll need to buy one to keep in reserve.
